Full-Time Protection and Control Engineer

Olsson’s Power Delivery team seeks an Associate Electrical Engineer – Protection & Controls for field work and design review. You'll support on-site protection and control efforts, review Issued-For-Construction (IFC) drawings, and collaborate with clients on substation projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support field review and implementation of Protection & Controls Issued For Construction (IFC) drawing packages.
• Conduct on-site evaluations of substation protection systems, ensuring design and safety standards compliance.
• Assist in troubleshooting, problem-solving, and design modifications during project execution.
• Perform basic calculations, relay coordination studies, and protection settings with guidance from senior engineers.
• Develop and review engineering drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams using AutoCAD, MicroStation, or similar tools.
• Ensure compliance with NERC, IEEE, and utility-specific protection and control standards.
• Collaborate with clients and internal teams to review and implement design updates.
• Participate in site visits and field-testing activities for substation commissioning and protection systems.

Ideal Candidate Skills:

• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
• 1+ years of experience in electrical engineering
• Ability to work in both office and field environments (travel required).
• Familiarity with electrical safety, hazard identification, and substation design principles.
• Basic knowledge of protection & controls, relay coordination, and substation automation (preferred).
• Experience with design software (AutoCAD, MicroStation, ETAP, or SKM is a plus).
