Full-Time Reporter

ProPublica is an independent, nonprofit newsroom producing investigative journalism. We are hiring a reporter for our national staff.

We are looking for reporters who:

• Have at least five years of experience producing original accountability journalism.
• Have a talent for and dedication to digging for the truth.
• Have a deep desire to focus on important accountability stories and a vision for what to uncover.
• Embrace a wide range of reporting techniques, including data analysis and creative reader engagement strategies.
• Are skilled investigative storytellers capable of delivering findings that connect with readers.
• Can bring an accountability lens to the issues of the day through quick investigations and longer projects.
• Are not afraid of urgent, high-stakes stories requiring competition.
• Enjoy working collaboratively with others.
• Are able to travel for assignments and meetings.

This full-time position includes benefits and is based in New York, but we are open to remote candidates. Applicants must be eligible to work in the U.S.

Expected salary range: $95,000 - $170,000. This is an estimate and the final salary will be based on experience and location. ProPublica is committed to equitable pay.
