Senior Infrastructure/Application Support Engineer

About the Role: Join a team of dedicated engineers supporting our API-driven global promotions platform. Configure, deploy, and support the backend of games for a major fast-food chain.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Providing advanced application support, resolving issues for optimal performance.
  • Collaborating with the development team on issue diagnosis and resolution.
  • Gaining a thorough understanding of the platform for effective communication with internal, vendor, and client technical teams.
  • Monitoring system performance and proactively identifying potential issues.
  • Leading incident response, ensuring swift resolution and providing detailed reports.
  • Developing and maintaining support documentation.
  • Assisting with deployments and ensuring minimal service disruption.
  • Mentoring junior engineers and contributing to support process improvements.
  • Configuring and maintaining cloud environments using automated scripts.
  • Participating in on-call support rotations.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience as an Application Support Specialist, Software Engineer, DevOps Engineer, or equivalent.
  • Understanding of reading metrics and HTTP status codes.
  • Proficiency with scripting languages (Python, Ruby, Bash/Zsh).
  • API testing/scripting knowledge (Postman).
  • Basic SQL skills.
  • Experience with testing tools (Gatling, BlazeMeter, Jmeter).
  • Strong AWS services and security knowledge.
  • Centralized logging system experience (Graylog, Loki).
  • Knowledge of security and encryption practices.
  • Kubernetes experience.
  • Experience with proxy, debugging, and profiling tools.
  • XML/XSD proficiency.
  • Git version control.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Nice-to-haves:

  • Experience with system profiling and performance tuning.
  • Athena experience for ad-hoc support queries.
  • Proficiency with monitoring and diagnostic tools (Grafana, Prometheus).
  • JVM memory management and garbage collection tuning experience.
  • NoSQL database experience.
  • Elasticache, DynamoDB, APIGateway, Lambda, Cloudwatch, Cognito experience.
  • Load testing high-performance distributed systems experience.
