Job Details

The Senior IT Specialist provides direction and leadership in system applications, client endpoints, and data center infrastructure, with emphasis on security to ensure integrity.

Responsibilities:

  1. Develops architecture, designs, and ongoing operations of information systems, adhering to SLAs, RPOs, and RTOs.
  2. Reviews business processes and implements automation.
  3. Manages complex technical solutions for business needs.
  4. Designs and implements security solutions to ensure compliance and secure sensitive information.
  5. Trains and grows team knowledge on security systems, networks, applications, and core banking systems.
  6. Designs and delivers user training for new/current software and systems.
  7. Fosters a cooperative, motivated, and innovative work environment.
  8. Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of Credit Union and multisite technologies for optimal performance and security.
  9. Provides expertise in designing and implementing environments to meet current and future needs, including strategic design for on-premise and cloud services with security and recovery.
  10. Implements and maintains technology services (virtualization, SANs, servers, network, email, client endpoints, printers, applications, and associated security).
  11. Leads design, testing, implementation, and maintenance of disaster recovery plans for existing and new services, adhering to SLAs, updating plans based on tests and learnings.
  12. Ensures security and safety of all systems and data; monitors system performance and security, proactively identifying threats and taking action.
  13. Ensures backups adhere to data retention requirements and provides data management protection based on classification levels.
  14. Provides reporting and scorecards to executive management on system and application status (availability, support status, patching, versions).
  15. Leads development of IT policies and procedures and IT audits.
  16. Recommends controls and works with auditors to get external perspective and implement remediation steps.
  17. Identifies technology needs and process improvement opportunities across business areas.
  18. Works with third-party service providers to ensure system uptime, performance, and stability, following vendor management guidelines.
  19. Applies expertise to define and implement impacts and initiatives for regulatory compliance (FSRA, PCI) and internal framework adherence.
  20. Understands and implements core frameworks (COBIT, NIST, ISO27001, CIS Top20/18) to build organizational maturity aligned with the frameworks.
  21. Completes other assigned responsibilities.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education (engineering, computer science, or equivalent).
  • 15+ years in a senior IT infrastructure role.
  • 12+ years of security experience focusing on frameworks, audits, and controls in a data-sensitive environment.
  • Experience with advanced infrastructure technologies (networking, SAN, collaboration solutions, security controls, cloud services).
  • Proven ability to lead projects and work in team environments.
  • Familiarity with banking systems (RFS, Wealthview, Ovation, etc.) is a plus.
  • IT certifications (VMWare, Exchange, Windows Server, cloud).
  • Security certifications (Security+, CISSP, CEH, etc.) maintained current.
  • Ability to work outside of regular business hours.
