Full-Time Senior Program Manager - Innovation Research

Mission of the Innovation Lab is to increase the diagnostic yield of our exome and genome products and reduce the time to diagnosis for patients with undiagnosed hereditary disease. Vision is to deliver personalized and actionable health insights to every person who orders a genetic test from GeneDx.

Summary: We are looking for a driven, experienced, and hands-on Senior Research Program Manager to turn ideas into reality – managing early-stage research projects, validating approaches, and guiding them to scalable production. You will own the project pipeline, bridge the gap between teams, drive execution, and contribute ideas and solutions for what we should pursue next—both strategically and tactically.

1. Program Project Management: Plan, organize, and manage multiple research projects from inception to completion, ensuring they meet timelines and quality standards.
2. Innovation: Drive innovation in diagnostic testing, analysis and interpretation through genomic research projects and transfer into the commercial laboratory.
3. Lead cross-functional research initiatives from ideation to production: Manage early-stage projects, validate experimental approaches, and drive scalable implementation.
4. Individual contribution: Contribute to data analytics, genetic interpretation and/or the evaluation of software tools for clinical genomic analysis and research.
5. Budget Management: Maintain budgets for research programs, including financial planning, tracking, and reporting.
6. Risk Management: Identify potential risks for genomic research projects and develop mitigation strategies.
7. Compliance: Ensure all research activities comply with LDT and FDA regulatory requirements.
8. Stakeholder Communication: Maintain effective communication with stakeholders.
9. Performance Tracking: Monitor project progress and performance, using metrics and data to evaluate success.
10. Documentation: Ensure thorough documentation of research processes, SOPs, findings, and outcomes.

Education, Experience and Skills:

• Education: Advanced degree (preferably PhD) in a relevant field.
• Experience: Extensive experience in genomic research and/or program management, preferably within the diagnostic, biotech or life sciences industry, 8+ years.
• Skills: Strong organizational, communication, and analytical skills, with the ability to manage complex projects and teams.
• Technical Knowledge: Understanding of DNA & RNA sequencing technologies, bioinformatics, clinical interpretation of genomic data.
• Leadership: Proven ability to lead and mentor teams.
• Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
