The OpportunityOur Aviation organization seeks an experienced SRE to design and build systems, tooling, and processes for an extensible, scalable, observable platform. They empower development teams to own and manage their full application stack, minimizing bottlenecks and optimizing development velocity without compromising reliability.

The Skillset

• Senior level SRE experience with monitoring, troubleshooting, disaster recovery.
• Extensive production-quality code writing experience.
• Proficiency with infrastructure as code and/or configuration management (Terraform).
• Managing monitoring dashboards using tools like Grafana and Prometheus.
• Ensuring system aligns with internal SLIs and SLOs.
• Refining CI/CD processes for reliable and efficient production code pushes.
• Collaborating on a robust monitoring platform for services and infrastructure.
• Familiarity with AWS best practices (e.g., security groups, VPCs).

The First 30 Days

• Onboarding, Infrastructure using Terraform.
• Meet software engineering teams.
• Learn Aerodome Platform codebase.
• Learn Flock Safety AWS infrastructure, architecture, tooling, policies.
• Meet Security, SRE, and compliance teams.
• Review diagrams, policies.
• Create and deploy production releases of the Aerodome platform.

The First 60 Days

• Review and improve observability within the Aerodome platform.
• Contribute to project development, advising best practices.
• Improve CI pipeline, speeding developer feedback loops.
• Create or improve Helm charts.

90 Days & Beyond

• Improve automation of Aviation infrastructure.
• Contribute to Platform Engineering efforts.
• Build self-service ability to increase developer efficiency.
• Build/integrate IoT management tooling (drones, docks, radars).
• Ensure self-healing and auto-scaling strategies.
• Standardize/refactor Terraform modules.
• Participate in security reviews, remediation, new implementations.
