We are currently seeking a Senior Technical Writer to join our Growth Management and Strategy (GMS) team. As part of our GMS team, Senior Technical Writers provide essential services for Energy Solutions' projects. They contribute to a wide range of documents in response to external client requests. Assignments may include creating original content, editing existing materials, or drafting documents.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Draft or edit original content for research papers, program reports, proposed regulations, position papers, articles for industry publications, blog posts, and other client-facing and public-facing work.
- Engage with complex regulatory and technical material and convey that in clear, comprehensible written communications.
- Handle a variety of content, structural, and copy-editing duties across a range of reports, papers, and articles.
- Provide strong leadership and client management skills when collaborating cross-departmentally on key reports and articles.
- Help ensure consistent standards and voice throughout all reports, papers, and other deliverables by adhering to company and client editorial style guidelines and blending the disparate contributions of multiple authors into one cohesive voice.
- Develop a strong understanding of Energy Solutions’ products and services.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to gather industry expertise, and information about services, projects, and business strategy, to inform written work and assist with editing, proofreading, document preparation and publication.
- Identify creative ways to visually convey information and collaborate with Creative Services team to develop meaningful graphics.
- Draft or edit content for RFP responses or other proposals to support Energy Solutions’ business development and project implementation.
- Build content libraries to support writing efforts.
- Assist with internal help requests from colleagues for inquiries about writing, grammar, citation, and Microsoft Word support.
Minimum qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree preferably in science, engineering, philosophy, journalism, or another writing-focused discipline.
- A minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience, preferably in civil engineering, energy, regulatory, or climate topics.
- This is a senior role that requires a proven track record of managing the scope and direction of writing deliverables from start to finish.
- Strong experience presenting complex technical information to a broad audience, including clients and leadership executives.
- Must be detail-oriented with ability to grasp and succinctly articulate technical information, as well as demonstrate the ability to write and edit for clarity and understanding.
- Exceptional copyediting skills and familiarity with academic publishing standards for grammar, usage, citations, and punctuation.
- Strong experience with narrative structure development and content editing, particularly in coordination with multiple authors.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Word required, including use of advanced formatting, templates, and citations.
- Proficient in use of digital collaboration tools, specifically Microsoft 365 (Excel, and PowerPoint). Experience with Slack, SharePoint, or Salesforce is a plus.
- Collaborative style, able to adapt to changing schedules and situations and collaborate with various partners including technical subject matter experts and other specialized staff.
- Strong work ethic, time management, and communication skills.
- Ability to function effectively both independently and within a team environment working with remote colleagues.
- A proven professional or personal commitment to the betterment of the environment and the reduction of GHGs is a strong plus.
