About the role: This is a fully remote position, open to candidates across the US. As a Senior Technical Writer at Galileo, you’ll join a team delivering high-quality documentation that helps business users and developers meet their business goals with Galileo’s product and API platform. You’ll work closely with Product Managers, Engineers, and subject-matter experts across the company to write and maintain API documentation, product guides, and code examples for a highly flexible and complex financial technology platform. You’ll also help evolve our documentation toolchain to meet changing business, technology, and user needs.
What you’ll do:
- Create, maintain, and improve technical documentation for Galileo’s clients, developers, and internal teams that clearly and accurately describe how to leverage our products and API platform
- Effectively manage content behind the scenes using a combination of third-party apps, dev tools, and homegrown tooling
- Investigate gaps and pain points in our documentation toolchain, and propose and implement improvements to keep up with evolving business, technology, and user needs
- Independently identify the right internal resources, interview stakeholders, and validate information with subject matter experts for all documentation you write
- Develop and communicate documentation project plans and timelines that align with multiple teams’ go-to-market activities for new products, adapting appropriately to shifting priorities
- Continuously learn, unlearn, and relearn what our audiences need to be successful, and reorient content and project plans accordingly
- Proactively seek and respond to feedback on existing documentation in a timely, efficient, and thoughtful manner
- Participate in virtual meetings, utilize collaboration tools, and maintain consistent communication with other distributed teams
- Collaborate with other writers to give and receive feedback on content drafts, reflect on team processes and resources, and iterate on the ways we work together to meet changing needs over time
What you’ll need:
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent practical experience) and 5+ years in technical communication
- Experience working with engineers to document APIs during development
- Proficiency in Git and the ability to read and understand source code
- Experience with docs-as-code and OpenAPI specifications
- Superior written and verbal English communication skills
- Excellent strategic thinking and tactical execution skills
- Excellent relationship-building skills
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Proven ability to take initiative, navigate ambiguity, and work independently while maintaining alignment across a team
- Existing knowledge of at least one fintech sector (digital banking, card issuing, payment processing, etc.)
