The Role:Beam seeks a Software Engineer (Python) passionate about building backend APIs. Our engineers work across our product portfolio, using diverse technologies and shipping code frequently. We value developers who excel technically, mentor peers, and bring insights to improve development practices and product strategies.

What You Will Do:
- Ship high-quality, tested code regularly.
- Act as a technical advisor to improve code and product quality.
- Mentor fellow engineers to enhance team knowledge.
- Propose and implement architectural solutions for tech stack improvement.
- Convert Excel data into productionized Python code.
- Integrate with third-party systems.
- Propose and implement developer tools for better development experiences.
- Regularly evaluate platform performance and scalability, implementing best practices.
- Own portions of agile processes.
What Technical Skills Will Help You Be Successful:
- 3+ years of experience with Python and data analysis libraries (pandas, polars)
- Exposure to FastAPI, PyTest, pdm, and/or uv
- Bachelor's in Computer Science or related field
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines (Buildkite, CircleCI, etc.)
- Expertise in building secure, scalable, well-tested REST APIs
- Relational database schema design experience
- Strong understanding of CS fundamentals (data structures, design patterns)
- Exposure to React, React Testing Library, NextJS, and TypeScript (plus)
- Exposure to Ruby on Rails (plus)
