Specifically, we are looking for experienced and collaborative technical pre-sales individuals to partner with technically skilled customers, internal Product and Engineering teams as well as other cross-functional verticals. In this role, you will need to be technically capable and credible in your own right as well as effective in shaping the customer and solutions-focused skills of your team. We are looking for individuals who love learning and introducing new ideas in order to help colleagues and customers embrace and adopt new technology.
In this role, you will be the go-to technical resource, driving the adoption of our Capital One Software products by leveraging your Databricks expertise to deliver tailored solutions to our customers.
As a Specialist Customer Solutions Architect - Databricks, you will guide customers in building solutions using our Capital One Software product(s) that span a variety of use cases, by leveraging your Databricks expertise. You will be in a customer-facing role, working with and supporting Core Solution Architects, that require hands-on experience with Databricks and expertise in other data technologies. You will help customers through design and successful implementation of our solutions while aligning their technical roadmap to include expansion of our product(s). As a deep go-to-expert, you will continue to strengthen your technical skills through mentorship, learning, and internal training programs and establish yourself in an area of specialty in relation to our solutions.
The ideal candidate will possess a combination the following relevant technical expertise:
- Scaling big data workloads (such as ETL) that are performant and cost-effective.
- Migrating workloads to the public cloud - AWS, Azure, or GCP - or other experience with these cloud services.
- Large scale data ingestion pipelines and data migrations - including CDC and streaming ingestion pipelines.
- Cloud data lake technologies - such as Delta and Delta Live.
- Data manipulation languages / programming (e.g., SQL, Python, Scala, Java).
- Distributed computing with Apache Spark and knowledge of Spark runtime internals.
- Data Engineering technologies (e.g.,: Spark, Hadoop, Kafka).
- Data Warehousing (e.g.,: SQL, OLTP/OLAP/DSS).
Key Responsibilities:
- Trusted Advisor: We are the front line for our customer’s tech, product, and cyber needs as well as for solutioning product specific improvements. You will be expected to provide technical leadership to guide strategic customers to successful implementations of our solutions.
- Empower Technical Excellence: Leveraging your Databricks expertise, you will also assist the Core Solution Architects with more advanced aspects of the technical sale including custom proof of concept content, estimating workload sizing, and custom architectures.
- Amplify Our Message: Craft compelling stories and demonstrations that showcase the power of our solution(s) and partnerships, both internally and externally.
- Shape the Future: Use your insights and partner feedback to influence our product roadmap, ensuring it meets the evolving needs of our partners and customers.
- Customer Ambassador: We represent the voice of the customer and the customer needs in internal discussions and working groups.
- Demonstrate Value: We focus on identifying the best solutions that bring value to our customers.
- Thought Leadership: We use technical expertise, research, and customer solutioning experiences to build and share thought leadership both internally and externally (e.g., whitepapers, blog posts, conference presentations, contributions to the Databricks Community, etc.).
- Subject Matter Experts: We focus on gaining deep understanding of our products and deep subject matter expertise across technology domains in order to best advise our customers, solve complex problems and identify areas of improvement for our products. You will be the technical expert in Databricks in relation to our solutions.
- Pre-Sales & Post-Sales: We are focused on serving our customers predominantly in the Pre-Sales stages, as we determine how to best implement our products for their needs and also solve for any unique requests. We also focus on the Post-Sales stages, for those instances where customers will require solutions that were not part of their original product deployment.
- Solution Oriented: We focus on finding solutions to address every customer problem and need using every tool, skillset and creativity at our disposal.
- Channel Partnership: We collaborate with Partner Sales Engineers and Partner Sellers on joint customer strategies and joint value props, as applicable for different products.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or military experience
- At least 7 years of experience in a technical customer-facing role
- At least 5 years of technical experience in Databricks
- At least 4 years of experience working with cross-functional teams
- At least 4 years of experience with design, implementation, or consulting experience of distributed applications
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology
- Databricks certifications
- High level of comfort communicating effectively across internal and external organizations
- 2+ years of experience with CI/CD (Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery) for production deployments
- 2+ years of experience in design and deployment of performant end-to-end data architectures
- 2+ years of experience with technical project delivery - managing scope and timelines
- 2+ years of experience in documentation and white-boarding
