Senior Project Manager, Clinical Projects
This position requires on-site 2-3 days per week.
This position supports multiple Clinical/Ancillary projects.
The Sr. IT Project Manager plans, directs, controls, and implements highly complex, large-scale, strategic IT projects, enabling technology solutions and systems.
The Sr. IT Project Manager meets department and enterprise-wide business and clinical needs using IT PMO project management methodologies.
They are a member of the IT Program Management Office (PMO).
- Assists in establishing and managing PMO governance.
- Guarantees program and project approval, implementation, and validation according to established criteria.
- Ensures projects are managed on time and within budget, and meet quality and success requirements.
- Continuously improves PMO components (training, processes, procedures, tools).
- Mentors and performs PMO education.
Job Responsibilities:
Project Management:
- Manages clinical projects, integrating Clinical Operations and IT support.
- Delivers technology that drives business/clinical benefit.
- Includes all project management activities (project development, schedule creation, WBS development, budget management).
- Negotiates contracts, monitors deliverables, performs risk assessment and mitigation.
- Handles scope and change management, issue management, and status reporting at all levels.
- Manages project resources, training, communication, go-live management.
- Plans and manages transition to IT production support.
- Facilitates value realization and lessons learned reviews.
Project Management Approach: Guides project stakeholders and team members through the project life cycle.
Ensures effective utilization of resources. Assists in managing project database tools.
Oversees project database to ensure standards and methodology adherence.
Vendor Management: Manages vendor relationships within project scope.
- Includes contract reconciliation, maintenance agreements, enhancements/upgrades.
- Manages issue escalation and partnership agreements.
Provide General Leadership and Direction: in analysis, selection, design, and implementation of IT solutions that meet information security and compliance requirements.
Reviews project performance and works with IT resource managers to resolve barriers and conflicts.
Project Portfolio Management:
- Prepares and produces governance materials.
- Supports review and approval of IT programs/projects.
- Analyzes cost, schedule, and risk management; gathers data for project change request reviews.
Project/Program Portfolio Management:
- Assists in IT PMO governance value assessment and prioritization.
- Ensures IT program and project decisions align with organization strategic goals.
- Reviews, sequences, and schedules IT programs/projects.
- Ensures alignment with prioritization, resource availability, and constraints (e.g., compliance).
Project/Program Management, IT Planning: Prepares and presents portfolio, program, and project status updates.
Monitors project portfolio and recommends strategies for resource conflicts.
Continuously improves PMO components.
Leads performance improvement activities.
Assists in establishing and managing PMO governance.
Assists in defining and meeting PMO service project/portfolio metrics.
Functional Responsibilities:
- Provides administrative PM support (tracks schedule, monitors artifacts).
- Ensures readiness for Enterprise Strategy Council (ESC) and Leadership Meetings.
- Publishes project status reports/updates.
- Maintains project dashboard updates.
- Owns and is the main point of contact for project issues.
- Collaborates with business owners.
- Leads all project implementation lifecycle aspects.
- Manages multiple concurrent projects.
- Maintains timely communications between all parties.
- Delivers projects under budget, resource, and time constraints.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in MIS, Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
- 8+ years experience managing complex, strategic IT programs/projects in healthcare (recent, within 5 years).
- 5+ years Cerner Experience and/or Knowledge.
- 5+ years experience in net new project implementations.
- 5+ years project management experience.
- Top rate, contract, or contract-to-hire.
