The Production Application Engineering team seeks a Sr Systems Engineer to drive workflow improvements and technology adoption for clients. The role involves gathering client requirements and implementing solutions using vendor offerings and internal developments. This supports the technical infrastructure for NBCUniversal productions (News, Late Night, Digital). This includes hardware installation, network configuration, and cloud systems. The team focuses on initiatives like Virtualized Production Control Rooms, Augmented Reality, and real-time graphics.
Responsibilities:
- Become a subject matter expert on production workflows
- Evaluate vendor software through proof-of-concept testing
- Collaborate with vendors to develop roadmaps for internal goals
- Contribute to infrastructure- and configuration-as-code repositories
- Thoroughly test new and updated systems/workflows
- Escalate issues for other internal teams
- Participate in an on-call rotation for off-hour escalations
Basic Requirements:
- BS in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience
- 3+ years of broadcast technology experience
- Willingness and ability to work/be on-call outside business hours
- Familiarity with system-level troubleshooting (Windows/Linux)
- Previous broadcast production systems experience (Graphics, audio, video)
- Experience communicating with internal clients
Desired Characteristics:
- Interest in infrastructure-as-code
- Video/audio signal flow troubleshooting experience
- Network/IT troubleshooting and tools (Puppet, Wireshark, PowerShell)
- Public/private cloud infrastructure experience
- Product/technology evaluation and implementation recommendations
- Understanding of streaming video formats (NDI, SRT, RTMP)
- Adaptability in a fast-paced environment

Salary Range: $90,000 - $130,000
