Staff Data Engineer
Key Responsibilities
- Lead design & implementation of high-performance data pipelines & workflows using Databricks on AWS.
- Drive innovation & improvements in data engineering practices & processes across teams.
- Develop, maintain, & optimize data warehouse architecture for performance, scalability, & reliability.
- Collaborate with data scientists & analysts to ensure warehouse supports business intelligence & machine learning needs.
- Design & build ETL processes to integrate, transform, & deliver data from multiple sources. Ensure ETL jobs are optimized for efficiency, accuracy, & timeliness.
- Implement tools & frameworks to monitor & maintain data accuracy, consistency, & reliability.
- Build automated systems for detecting & resolving data quality issues.
- Partner with cross-functional teams (software engineers, product managers, business stakeholders) to understand data requirements & deliver solutions.
- Provide technical guidance & mentorship to junior engineers.
- Continuously monitor data platform performance, identifying & addressing bottlenecks.
- Act as a technical expert to resolve complex data engineering challenges.
- Create & maintain documentation for pipelines, processes, & system configurations.
- Advocate for best practices in coding standards, data governance, & security.
Experience
8+ years of experience in data engineering with significant expertise in designing & maintaining scalable data platforms.
Proven track record of building & optimizing data pipelines & warehouses.
Technical Proficiency
- Must Have: Advanced skills in Databricks, Cloud Platforms (AWS/Azure/Google Cloud), SQL, Python, Spark, & ETL tools (Fivetran).
- Nice to Have: Experience with event tracking tools (e.g., Segment).
Problem-Solving
Strong analytical skills & the ability to solve complex data engineering challenges.
Collaboration & Communication
Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams & communicate technical concepts to diverse audiences.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
