Role: Sybase DBA

Location: NJ/NY (Hybrid)

Job description

Using 10+ years’ experience, the qualified candidate will install and configure Sybase ASE instances, plan database migration, assist in parallel testing. S/He should be able to take initiative aggressively, execute individually, and work appropriately with other infrastructure and application groups to complete the migration and testing. The qualified candidate will also conduct performance tuning, assist with remediation of differences, and creates needed operational processes and documentation. Experience with large (6TB+) databases preferred.

Responsibilities

• This team has a multisite presence, provides ongoing maintenance and support for 6 applications on various platforms and technologies with high concentration in Sybase, Oracle, Java, shell scripting, and Python
• The qualified candidate will also conduct performance tuning, assist with remediation of differences, and creates needed operational processes and documentation
• Install, configure, and test multiple Sybase ASE 16 instances/environments
• Migrate existing databases and related applications to the new environments
• Develop automated testing/reconciliation between old and new environments
• Plan and execute go live cutover to new environments

• Sybase ASE 16 DBA • Sybase ASE 16 installation and configuration on Linux • Sybase ASE 15.7 to ASE 16 migration • Sybase ASE Partitioning and space management • Linux shell scripting Preferred Skill Sets

• Experience with ASE databases 6TB or larger • Sybase ASE 15.7 DBA • Sybase IQ 16 DBA • Sybase ASE Certified
