As a Systems Administration Team Lead, manage the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of in-house information systems supporting core business functions. Monitor, maintain, support, and optimize assigned networked software, operating systems, database subsystems, and Enterprise Applications. Supervise and develop IT engineers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define business requirements, systems goals, and resolve technical architecture issues with executive team.
- Coordinate and perform in-depth testing (including end-user reviews) of new and modified systems.
- Ensure system connectivity of servers, shared software, groupware, and applications.
- Recommend monitoring and management tools to track application availability.
- Perform cost-benefit and ROI analyses for proposed systems.
- Provide end-user training for new and modified systems.
- Create and maintain documentation of system configuration, mapping, processes, and service records.
- Research software and systems products.
- Operations Monitoring/Systems Administration Support: Gauge system effectiveness/efficiency; develop strategies to improve system use. Work with network staff to ensure smooth operation. Ensure system compatibility/interoperability. Monitor and test system performance, and prepare/deliver performance reports.
- Resource Management: Supervise a team of System Administrators. Orient, train, assign work, evaluate performance, manage time requests, resolve issues/complaints, provide mentorship and career coaching, and discipline employees.
- Recommend backup and recovery procedures aligning with QAD's disaster recovery and business continuity strategies.
- Manage, monitor, and support enterprise infrastructure across on-premises and cloud environments (e.g., AWS).
- Manage incident response and root cause analysis for infrastructure issues.
Education/Licenses: 4-year degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience.
Experience: 4-5 years of team/project management, systems planning, security principles, software troubleshooting, and general software management best practices. AWS Infrastructure experience required.
Skills:
- Working knowledge of software protocols/Internet standards (TCP/IP, VPN, Client/Server, SOA).
- Application support experience for application availability analysis, performance, and tuning.
- Working knowledge of modern Linux and Windows Server OS versions.
- Knowledge of data privacy practices.
- Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills (technical and user-friendly).
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, with strong customer service orientation.
- Project management, analytical, creative problem-solving abilities, and mentoring skills.
- Ability to establish an effective team.
