Job Details
Technical Author is responsible for ensuring consistent contract content for main infrastructure contracts, professional service contracts, and public-private partnership contracts. The role holder is responsible for defining consistent requirements throughout Project Procurement and subsequent contract administration, collaborating with stakeholders to transform their needs into deliverables using consistent language and requirements.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Derive contract content from sponsors requirements, interfacing with all functions and stakeholders.
- Develop contract requirements aligned to contracting models (e.g., NEC4 or PPP).
- Develop evaluation criteria aligned to KPIs, critical success factors, and sponsor requirements.
- Support overall programme evaluation criteria from a Delivery perspective.
- Respond to tender queries concisely and accurately.
- Evaluate tender returns using evaluation models and scoring.
- Define mapping from requirements to delivered benefits, both progressively and finally.
- Collaborate with software developers, engineers, and stakeholders to understand technical concepts.
- Translate technical information for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Provide support, advice, and recommendations for cloud or web-based packages (developing and hosting digital manuals).
- Organize and structure documentation logically and accessibly.
- Ensure accuracy, consistency, and adherence to style guidelines.
- Conduct thorough reviews and edits for clarity, accuracy, and usability.
- Assist in designing and formatting documentation for visual appeal.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to repurpose technical content.
- Stay informed about industry best practices and trends.
- Perform additional tasks as required.
Requirements:
- 10+ years’ experience in capital projects or asset management, with 5+ years in bid/contract content writing.
- Demonstrable academic qualifications (NFQ Level 6 or 7 or equivalent).
- Experience with Documentation Process, and System/software engineering process.
- Experience and working knowledge of developing software/system manuals.
- Experience and working knowledge of cloud/web-based packages for digital manuals.
- Excellent Microsoft Office experience.
- Experience in multi-disciplinary groups and managing complex interfaces.
- Proficiency in creating clear, concise technical documentation (user manuals, etc.).
- Strong communication skills with stakeholders.
- Familiarity with engineering principles (especially metro systems, civil, electrical, and mechanical).
- Knowledge of systems integration.
- Quality management/process improvement knowledge (desirable in construction).
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
