Full-Time Writer

Mob Entertainment is a startup multimedia studio known for the hit indie horror game "Poppy Playtime". This franchise is experiencing rapid growth, and our team is expanding. With over 100 billion YouTube views related to the game, Mob Entertainment, the studio behind the indie-horror gem Poppy Playtime, is seeking a remote, full-time Writer to contribute to the Creative Development team. You'll work on building and expanding our flagship IP, creating new transmedia properties, and crafting linear storytelling efforts.

What You'll Do:

• Develop narrative game content (dialogue, lore documents, item descriptions, cinematics, marketing videos, environmental storytelling).
• Craft original linear content tied to Mob's IP (scripts and prose fiction).
• Collaborate with leads to expand the Poppy franchise.
• Maintain consistent tone, voice, and continuity across multiple storytelling platforms.
• Manage project documentation (lore bibles, character bios, story treatments).
• Stay updated on emerging trends in film, series, lit, and gaming.
• Collaborate with other design teams to align creative vision and offer narrative solutions.

Minimum Requirements:

• 5+ years of professional writing experience in games, film/TV, comics, or interactive media with shipped AA-level or recognized IP products.
• Bachelor's degree in Screenwriting, Creative Writing, Narrative Design, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Portfolio demonstrating storytelling ability across multiple formats.
• Excellent written communication skills and a collaborative spirit.
• Self-directed, detail-oriented, and able to work in fast-paced, iterative environments.
• Thorough knowledge of the story development process and experience in a writers’ room setting.
• Ability to produce written work without constant supervision and possess relevant soft skills to pivot and align around product needs.

Recommended Requirements:

• Los Angeles / SoCal based (preferred but not required)
• Horror/Genre fan
• Familiarity with Mob Entertainment’s IP and style
• Interest in transmedia storytelling, ARGs, animation
• Background in DM/GM-ing or story-based puzzle design
• Understanding of current video game, YouTube, and entertainment market trends.
