What Does an Art Supervisor Do?
The Art Supervisor (AS) is a key contributor to the creative team, fully responsible for concept and art/design development across various projects.
The AS acts as a liaison between creative and junior/mid-level account teams, ensuring alignment with strategic and creative goals.
The AS has strong knowledge of FDA regulations and pharmaceutical promotion requirements across all communication channels.
They possess an intimate understanding of marketing/advertising principles, ensuring work meets brand standards and provides a consistent brand experience across all channels.
The AS effectively presents and defends work internally and externally.
The AS demonstrates leadership by managing the workload of direct reports and intervening when necessary to maintain quality and timelines.
The AS leads and elevates design/art direction across the team.
What Are We Looking For?
- Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Fine Arts, Advertising, or a related field.
- Proven ability to take full responsibility for concept and art/design development across various projects of differing complexity and scope.
- Experience acting as a direct liaison between creative teams and junior/mid-level account teams, ensuring strategic and creative expectations are met.
- Solid understanding of FDA regulations and pharmaceutical promotion requirements across all communication channels.
- Intimate knowledge of marketing and advertising principles to ensure work achieves its full potential, adheres to brand standards, and provides a consistent brand experience across all channels.
- Expertise in presenting and defending work both internally and externally.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities, including monitoring the workload of direct reports and intervening when necessary to maintain quality and timelines.
- Ability to lead and elevate design and art direction across the team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead and elevate art/design across the team, adding value where possible.
- Provide constructive feedback to junior-level creatives, advancing both copy and art.
- Possess strong conceptual skills, bringing a wide range of creative solutions to every project.
- Lead art direction across projects to create a cohesive brand experience.
- Proficient in estimating individual hours for oneself and direct reports.
- Use advanced design principles to distill complex scientific information into compelling data visualizations.
- Mastery of file-building/management best practices.
- Understand the importance of utilization and hitting targets.
- Knowledge of accessibility best practices and a commitment to apply them.
- Mentor junior team members.
- Grow knowledge of clients' businesses and how work impacts them.
- Collaborate closely with planning, UX, and development teams.
- Develop strong relationships with creative, account management, and cross-functional teams.
- Confidently present and sell ideas to clients.
- Volunteer for new business efforts.
- Develop multichannel creative demonstrating conceptual thinking and strategic/business acumen.
