Candidate ProfileThis role is ideal for individuals with demonstrated solar PV site development engineering and planning expertise. We seek proactive candidates capable of coordinating and delivering high-quality engineering deliverables. You'll work on large-scale solar and storage projects across the US, interacting directly with planning & zoning offices, permitting authorities, engineering consultants, and executive management. A keen eye for detail and a solid understanding of the project planning and engineering process are essential to bring projects to commercial operation.
Position & ImpactYou'll join a core team in the Planning & Engineering Division, supporting the development of the company's solar and storage projects. This is an applied role, directly advancing integrated solar power plant developments across the US. Candidates should have experience developing and managing deliverables from early due diligence through construction, including land development engineering analyses and layouts using GIS and CAD software.
Ideal candidates will have experience working with EPC, IE/OE engineering firms, planning and zoning commissions, and permitting agencies (federal, state, and local).
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct land constraints analyses and layouts for solar and storage facilities.
- Perform internal risk assessments for project construction and permitting.
- Manage civil engineering packages, coordinating with internal teams for permitting.
- Review regulatory requirements and technical permitting parameters.
- Design and optimize projects based on techno-economic analysis, collaborating with Project Development and Corporate Finance.
- Conduct technical analyses using GIS, CAD, and other engineering software.
- Define and manage the scope, schedule, and budget for environmental due diligence on projects.
- Demonstrate a thorough understanding of zoning regulations and permitting processes.
- Understand construction (EPC) contracts and budgeting.
Qualifications
- Mechanical, civil, construction, environmental, or electrical engineering background.
- Experience in site development.
- Understanding of permitting with various agencies (e.g., USACE, SHPO, USFWS, Local AHJs).
- Ability to learn engineering principles and software.
- Highly productive and efficient with minimal oversight.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality work.
- Resourceful and communicative.
- Knowledge of construction (EPC).
