Turner & Townsend is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Estimator to lead estimating efforts for large-scale, high-value hyperscale data center construction projects.
Responsibilities:
- Lead mechanical estimating strategy from RFP through construction completion.
- Develop and present high-level cost plans.
- Drive feasibility studies and risk assessments for mechanical systems.
- Oversee procurement activities and validate subcontractor bids.
- Manage cost checks, valuations, and change control processes.
- Produce and present executive-level post-contract cost reports.
- Lead value engineering initiatives and negotiate final accounts.
- Collaborate with project managers and design teams.
- Analyze historical cost data and market trends.
- Maintain strong client relationships.
- Contribute to the development of estimating tools and best practices.
- Monitor market conditions and supply chain trends.
- Ensure compliance with local codes and standards.
Requirements:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or related field.
- 8+ years of experience in mechanical estimating and cost consulting.
- Proven ability to lead estimating for large, complex projects (data center experience preferred).
- Hands-on construction experience with mechanical systems (HVAC, piping, etc.).
- Expertise in managing mechanical subcontractors.
- Advanced technical knowledge across all cost management phases.
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and estimating software (CostX, WinEst, or similar).
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, Navisworks, Bluebeam, and other relevant tools.
- Strong organizational and leadership skills.
- Deep understanding of mechanical systems in mission-critical environments.
