This is a role perfect for an individual with proven development engineering and planning skills. We seek ‘forward-leaning’ candidates that can coordinate and deliver high-quality engineering and planning deliverables. You will be working on large-scale solar and storage projects across the US, with direct exposure to planning and zoning offices, permitting, and engineering consultants, as well as internal executive management. The candidate must have a keen eye for details and understanding of the planning and engineering process to bring projects to commercial operation.
Position & Impact You will be part of a core team in the Planning & Engineering Department, supporting the development of engineering packages related to the Company’s solar and storage projects. It is important to note that this is an applied role – the work you do will advance integrated solar power plant developments across the United States. Candidates should have some experience developing and managing deliverables for the environmental due diligence, zoning constraints, as well as performing land development engineering analyses and layouts via GIS and CAD software. Ideal candidates will have work experience with EPC, IE/OE engineering firms, planning, and zoning commissions, environmental due diligence, and permitting with various federal, state, and local agencies.
Key Responsibilities • Manage and maintain AutoCAD and GIS standards for the Planning & Engineering Department • Prepare environmental due diligence figures and maps. • Prepare Land Constraints Analyses and site development layouts to company standards. • Manage the development of the early site due diligence packages to aid with the scope development of land due diligence studies. • Review regulatory requirements and technical permitting parameters that affect site development. • Design and optimize projects based on techno-economic analysis; collaborate closely with Project Development and Corporate Finance Teams to inform of material engineering changes. • Conduct technical analyses in GIS, CAD and other engineering software; advise project team on terrain analysis and land constraints. • Manage and maintain the company database of projects utilizing ArcGIS Online.
• AutoCAD Civil 3D and GIS proven experience (ArcGIS Pro and/or QGIS). • ArcGIS Online experience creating web maps. • Data Acquisition skills and understanding of GIS metadata, files and sources. • Experience in site development. • Understanding of constraints mapping such as various agencies such as NWI, FEMA, Web Soil Survey, Lidar, and others. • Understanding of zoning regulations and environmental constraints risk assessments. • Ability to learn engineering principles and software. • Highly productive and efficient with minimal oversight. • Affinity for detail and high-quality work. • Resourceful and communicative. • PVCase experience is preferred but not required.
