AECOM has a position for a Civil/Structural Designer to support the Energy Practice, offering remote work and/or on-site options in various Energy offices across the US. Our team provides civil and structural engineering services for electrical transmission and distribution, renewables, industrial processes, building decarbonization, and next-generation energy. We seek an enthusiastic individual to develop and enhance technical skills for existing and new clients. Strong competency in civil and structural design for heavy industrial clients is required.
Responsibilities include:
- Lead civil/structural design, utilizing engineering direction and sketches to develop construction packages and lead design/drafting teams.
- Daily design and preparation of civil and structural deliverables, considering constructability, safety, and cost.
- Site general arrangements, location plans, elevations, sections, and details.
- Prepare bills of materials and quantity take-offs.
- Use various data sources (laser scan, vendor files, LiDAR, survey points, etc.) to build project models.
- Deep understanding of coordinate systems and data transformation.
- Manage data (vendor, client) throughout the project lifecycle.
- Complete complex design assignments, requiring judgment and issue resolution.
- Maintain open communication with project teams on workload, task estimation, and budgeting.
- Create integrated digital project content (discipline/vendor interfaces, clashes, etc.).
- Assist with project specifications and contract documents.
- Apply industry standards, guides, specifications, and procedures for US industrial and power facilities.
- Ensure technical and safety standards in design work.
- Review and check peer/group work.
- Collaborate with US and international design staff.
