Opportunity at a Glance Contributing faculty members serve in a part-time capacity to educate Walden University Students using online technology. Knowledge, feedback, and critique are imparted through thoughtful, timely communications, respecting all parties involved.
Responsibilities
- Training: New faculty receive training on teaching techniques, electronic learning platforms, policies, procedures, degree programs, academic integrity (Turnitin), and research supervision.
- Course Teaching: Assign a course, teaching on the eCollege platform, interacting with students within the platform. Discussion boards are open 24/7; postings must be timely, responses to student questions within 48 hours. Verify student submissions, providing feedback and grades via Blackboard.
- Availability: Be reasonably accessible to students outside the course discussion board, providing substantive feedback. Publish availability through syllabi, instructor information, or other documents.
- Residencies: Potential to attend domestic or international residencies (optional for part-time faculty).
- Other Duties: Perform other assigned duties.
- Compliance: Adhere to all policies and standards.
Qualifications
- Education: PhD in I/O Psychology or closely related field (or equivalent).
- Experience: Significant record of intellectual and professional contributions to I/O Psychology, Human Resource Management, Organizational Development, and General Management. 2+ years experience as a chair or committee member. 2+ years online teaching experience preferred. 3+ years degree-level teaching experience preferred.
- Skills: Commitment to student needs in distance learning. Teaching, advising, and mentoring; applied research, diverse faculty recruitment, excellent communication, team, and human relations skills.
- Technology Proficiency: Adequate computer, keyboard, pointing device, monitor. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), zip software, Adobe Acrobat. Reliable internet access with alternate access if needed.
- Licensure/Certification: Appropriate credentials, earned degree from accredited institution. May need licensure/license-eligibility for specific programs. Maintain licenses/certifications.
- Research: Stay current with research by reviewing articles, journals, and presentations. If conducting research, publish and acknowledge Walden University.
Compensation
Graduate Course Instruction: $1,560 - $4,080 per quarter/semester
Undergraduate Course Instruction: $700 - $2,200 per quarter
(depending on course type and length)
