This position helps develop and deploy world class data analytics at Intermountain Health, one of the nation's leading health systems.
The Consultant level Technical Data Analyst is a member of a system shared service team comprised of technical professionals contributing to the achievement of Intermountain's strategic initiatives, clinical excellence, and operational targets through data-driven insights.
Our teams report to senior leaders in Digital Technology Services (DTS) and work in strong partnership with key business and clinical leaders across all areas of Intermountain Health. This team provides ongoing training, maintenance, monitoring and promotion of data applications and reports to ensure data is widely known, accessible and used to its fullest potential.

The Consultant analyst serves as partner analyst supporting system/regional or divisional senior leadership. They leverage data to help leaders define enterprise level strategic initiatives and measure performance of KPIs. They meet regularly with executive stakeholders to set project priorities, provide work updates, and establish deliverable timelines.
The Consultant analyst is an acknowledged subject matter expert of key clinical and operating data across the Intermountain system. They partner with Healthcare Data Advisors and Data Architects to ensure data integrity and accuracy. Within the data and analytic community, they mentor, coach and provide consultative support on the correct usage and leveraged impact of data across multiple domains.
The Consultant analyst's deep understanding of system clinical and operating data enables them to deliver impactful descriptive, predictive and prescriptive insights through data exploration, report development and visual storytelling. In partnership with Data Science, they are leaders in identifying and implementing ML/AI methods in support of their customers and the Intermountain analytic service.
They effectively communicate analytic findings and recommendations to both technical and business executives. They develop and facilitate regular analytic work demonstrations and hands-on training for customers to promote understanding and independent consumption of analytic work.
The Consultant analyst continues to augment their technical skillset through individual learning and actively contributes to Intermountain's analytic community educational program presenting at learning sessions, serving on community leadership committees, and mentorship.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in analytics related fields such as statistics, mathematics, information systems, computer science, finance, business management, or economics with six years of relevant work experience in a role performing data analysis.
Or
Bachelor's degree in another area of study with eight years of relevant work experience in a role performing data analysis.
Experience without a related degree will be considered if skill set and experience are robust.
And
- Advanced knowledge of SQL (including Databricks) and understanding of database design
- Significant experience creating reports and dashboards with data visualization tools (Cognos, Tableau, Power BI)
- Expert proficiency using office applications (Word, Power Point, Excel) and internet
- Superior verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
- Subject matter expertise in health care or related data (Clinical Programs, Clinical Services, Compliance, Quality, Revenue Cycle, Strategic Planning, Finance, Human Resources, Supply Chain, Population Health, etc.).
