Full-Time Director, Product Design

About the role:

As a Product Design Director, you will guide the Product Design Team in crafting experiences that solve people's daily financial problems. You will uphold high quality standards, build skill sets and empower your designers to make decisions while maintaining a holistic vision.

Responsibilities:

• Manage and develop a team of product designers and design managers.
• Foster a creative and collaborative culture.
• Translate qualitative and quantitative inputs into clear directions.
• Communicate recommendations and strategy direction to stakeholders.
• Guide the team to develop best practices for ensuring quality.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (product management, engineering, user research, content design, product creative).
• Work closely with product and design leadership to ensure a cohesive user experience.
• Define and communicate design strategy and vision.
• Recruit and participate in the hiring process.
• Execute in a fast-paced environment.
• Gauge the performance of individual contributors and managers.

Requirements:

• 10+ years of experience leading design teams and driving creative solutions.
• Portfolio showcasing UX, brand, and visual design.
• Strong communication skills.
• User-centered design approach and collaborative style.
• Experience working with engineers, product managers, brand, content design, and user researchers.
• Experience building high-quality design teams.
• Experience with design and collaboration software (Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, G Suite, Asana, Notion).

Compensation:

Base Salary: $179,000 - $259,000 CAD

Location: Remote with occasional travel to Affirm's San Francisco office.
