Are you an experienced Medical Claims Assessor with Income Protection experience? We are looking for an Individual Income Protection Assessor to join the team in Hove on either a hybrid or homebased basis with a salary of up to £46,000 dependent on experience.
What you'll be doing:
- Gather appropriate evidence and assess information to accept or decline claims, displaying logical reasoning. Consider customer expectations to ensure fair decisions and avoid financial or reputational loss.
- Manage claims from end-to-end, processing within guidelines for quality and consistency, adhering to service standards and processes.
- Handle all aspects of customer communication (calls, letters, emails, appropriate methods for keeping customers informed) to minimize unnecessary contact.
- Liaise professionally and efficiently with internal and external customers and third parties to obtain information, meet customer expectations, and create a positive image.
- Utilize customer-focused language.
- Identify and take ownership of resolving appeals and complaints with urgency to achieve customer satisfaction and escalate root causes.
- Support colleagues with training, mentoring, and development to improve skills.
- Manage contentious or sensitive claims (fraud, litigation, etc.), liaising with managers, GFC, and legal services for effective resolution.
- Maintain consistent, timely, and accurate service levels aligned with service level agreements.
Who we're looking for:
- Experience handling Income Protection claims is desirable; candidates with other protection types will be considered.
- Awareness of Compliance regulations and adherence to them.
- Good medical knowledge and understanding of Underwriting, including New Business process.
- Good understanding of financial calculations for Claims Payment, including state benefits.
- Understanding of Reinsurance process and treaties.
- Empathy and sensitivity.
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
- Ability to handle difficult calls when researching claim refusals.
