About the Role and Team
We are seeking a strong and passionate Design Lead to help shape the future of AllTrails. This role reports to a Design Director and is part of a small, talented product design team. You'll collaborate closely with product management, research, engineering, and marketing to create innovative products. This role covers Discovery, Search, Planning and Community.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Lead the development of a best-in-class product & brand.
- Create beautiful, compelling experiences with high design quality.
- Identify product gaps and opportunities to add to our roadmap.
- Facilitate stakeholder reviews, prioritizing feedback.
- Design and ship meaningful work across web, iOS, and Android.
- Collaborate with design, product, data, and engineering to define product requirements.
- Mentor and coach other designers.
- Advocate for user needs.
- Leverage and evolve our design system.
- Seek and give feedback to improve design quality.
- Contribute to a tight-knit design team culture.
What We're Looking For:
- 7+ years of experience designing consumer-facing products/features for iOS, Android, and web.
- Passion for transforming complex problems into engaging experiences.
- Strong product design sensibility and craft in UX, visual design, and interaction.
- Ability to prioritize and apply learnings from research, metrics, and usability.
- Effective collaboration across functions (Product Management, Engineering).
- Product sensibility in informing project timelines and scope prioritization.
- Desire to share work early and seek feedback.
- Self-motivated and confident in end-to-end design work (concepts, requirements, documentation, post-launch analysis).
- Effective time management.
- Experience designing inclusively (e.g., international, multi-language, accessible).
- Proficiency in design, prototyping, and research tools (Figma, ProtoPie, Usertesting.com).
- Humble, empathetic, and open-minded.
Bonus: experience across large and small companies/agencies.
