The Wikimedia Foundation is seeking a collaborative Lead Product Manager to support our work on Abstract Wikipedia, a project to increase access to encyclopedic knowledge.
This is an opportunity to build new technology at the intersection of machine learning, natural language generation, and computational linguistics.
The Lead Product Manager is accountable for turning the vision of Abstract Wikipedia into a tangible impact. You will be working on an international team based in time zones UTC-4 to UTC+1.
- Responsibilities:
- Developing a roadmap that balances short-term execution with long-term strategic goals.
- Building alignment between stakeholders and the community.
- Owning the end-to-end product lifecycle.
- Using qualitative and quantitative methods to inform decisions.
- Understanding community needs and releasing features iteratively.
- Establishing and refining product development processes.
- Leading the prioritization of new products and services.
- Communicating trade-offs to drive product decisions.
- Communicating a clear product vision.
- Skills and Experience:
- Minimum 7 years of product management experience in software development.
- Experience developing and refining product management frameworks.
- Past success in breaking down ambiguous projects into clear tasks.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent follow-up, attention to detail, and project management skills.
- Ability to work remotely with a distributed team across time zones.
- Comfortable with evolving requirements and priorities.
Additionally, we’d love it if you have:
- Experience with natural language processing, computational linguistics, or knowledge management technologies
- Experience with multilingual products or platforms, good understanding of internationalization and localization
- Experience editing Wikimedia projects
