Since restarting its Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) platform in 2018, Fannie Mae has invested over $4 billion in proprietary and multi-investor funds.
Impact: The LIHTC Senior Underwriter role will offer flexibility to make each day your own.
- Work with syndicator partners to communicate investment parameters, manage pipeline, and screen, model, price, and negotiate LOIs for multifamily LIHTC investments.
- Underwrite and close proprietary and multi-investor fund investments, negotiate and close proprietary fund agreements.
- Identify and assess risk profile of equity investments to ensure risk is mitigated.
- Coordinate with internal and external teams to develop key milestones for seamless execution of LOIs and secure investments.
- Assist senior management in managing and updating processes.
- Recommend business solutions based on analysis of internal and market data.
- Actively participate on special project teams.
- Travel periodically to visit prospective investments and markets.
Experience Required:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
- 6+ years of LIHTC Equity experience.
- Track record of underwriting and closing LIHTC proprietary fund investments.
- Experience in modeling and structuring LIHTC investments.
- Experience managing critical projects, tight and changing timelines.
- Manage multiple and competing priorities.
- Highly motivated self-starter with attention to detail.
- Team player with excellent interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical, verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.
- Ability to influence through negotiation, persuasion, facilitation, and conflict resolution.
- Successfully manage and engage stakeholders, customers, and vendors.
- Experience gathering accurate information.
- Proven ability to work with different functional experts.
- Skilled in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Desired Experience:
- Willingness to travel.
- Experience with equity or debt portfolio management software.
- Ability to navigate multiple systems, manage data, and create reports.
