Cost Accountant role reviews, analyzes, and reports on material, labor, and expenses to ensure accurate product cost allocation, following corporate procedures, best practices, and financial accounting standards. Collaborates with manufacturing, supply chain, and sales for timely management-level information. Drives increased profitability by identifying improvement opportunities.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Provides support to management teams via monthly financial statement reviews and analysis.
- Offers timely and accurate financial information to guide profitability decisions.
- Explains cost, variances, and operating measures to business partners.
- Trains and supports cost accounting principles, best practices, and ERP system use.
- Performs ad-hoc analyses and provides requested data for decision-making.
- Monitors inventory transactions for accuracy and compliance.
- Coordinates annual operating budgets and forecasts with local management.
- Reviews departmental manufacturing and purchase burden rates for accurate inventory costing.
- Supports capital expenditure justification, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting, plus annual fixed asset inventories.
- Collaborates with departments to foster continuous improvement in cost controls and inventory.
- Identifies potential cost challenges and coordinates resolution with relevant teams.
Education/Experience
- BS in Accounting or related field, plus 3 years of cost accounting experience (or equivalent).
- Manufacturing experience and/or global organization experience preferred.
- OneStream Consolidation Software and Infor Visual Manufacturing experience a plus.
Skills/Abilities
- Strong accounting and financial analysis skills.
- US GAAP understanding.
- Ability to apply internal policies and procedures.
- Strong cost accounting and ERP systems knowledge.
- Analytical skills to build business cases using data and metrics.

- Proficiency in MS Office Suite, consolidation software, ERP systems, and business analytics tools.

Travel
- Up to 30% domestic travel required.
- Valid US Passport required.
Physical Requirements
- Sitting, bending, reaching, using stairs, lifting up to 25 pounds occasionally.
- Effective communication (telephone, in-person, written).
- Computer, office equipment, and telephone use.
Working Environment
- Office environment with occasional manufacturing work (loud noise, moving parts, fumes/airborne particles possible).
- PPE requirements may be necessary.
Salary: $70,000-$85,000/year + benefits
