Full-Time Customs Classifier

As a Customs Classifier, you are responsible for preparing customs clearance declarations for reputable companies. This includes compliance with national regulations and company policies.

You will:

• Manage shipments by accurately classifying and valuing import/export products.
• Classify goods effectively and compliantly.
• Support client requirements.
• Seek service enhancements and process improvements.
• Input milestones and communications within timeframes.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Daily Processing: Monitor and manage clients from document assessment to entry submission. Liaise with customers for missing documents, following unique entry procedures and internal KPIs using state-of-the-art technology.
2. Daily Management: Review and respond to emails within company policy. Liaise with customers, Customs, DAFF, and colleagues to complete entries within internal KPIs.
3. Classification and Valuation: Assess and review tariff classification information, storing supporting information.
4. Entry Processing: Pre-lodge and review entries, gather information for Community Protection Questions. Enter AEP commodity codes and BMSB codes on customs entries. Amend entries as needed.

Skills & Experience:

• Diploma of Customs Broking (or currently completing)
• Experience classifying a broad range of products
• Knowledge of government regulations
• Understanding of quarantine clearance (COLS and BMSB measures)
• Experience with integrated customs systems and third-party systems
• Accounting knowledge
• Strong problem-solving, organizational, and interpersonal skills
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Knowledge of international freight shipping terms
• General mathematical knowledge (exchange rates, foreign currency, general ledger)
• Road transport operational knowledge
• Good geographical knowledge
