Full-Time Medical Billing Clerk

We are looking for an efficient medical billing clerk to prepare invoices and manage patient accounts. You will liaise with patients on outstanding amounts, potentially dealing with collection agencies. Communicate with medical aid companies for remote authorization of medical procedure payments.

Responsibilities:

1. Managing patient accounts and preparing invoices.
2. Inputting patient information and maintaining updated records using computer software.
3. Ensuring patients receive their accounts.
4. Performing administrative tasks such as answering calls and responding to emails.
5. Acquiring and recording medical aid details, liaising with companies to authorize payments.
6. Following up with patients on late and overdue accounts.
7. Following work procedures, complying with hospital/clinic and state/federal regulations.
8. Improving job knowledge and skills by networking and staying abreast of medical service rates.
9. Meticulously handling patient records, accounts, and payments.
10. Maintaining patient confidentiality.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED
• At least 2 years administrative experience in medical/healthcare setting
• Associate's degree in accounting, business, or economics preferred
• Basic mathematical skills
• Excellent communication skills (medical insurance, patient/staff)
• Above-average organizational skills
• Attention to detail
• Ability to process cash/credit card payments
• Proficiency in account data input for statements
• Knowledge of medical coding procedures
