About This Position: We are seeking a Principal Environment Artist to join the creative team behind the enchanting world of Soulframe. You will bring the game's fantasy universe to life, delivering visually stunning and immersive environments that captivate players.
You will work with a proprietary engine across multiple platforms, creating everything from sweeping landscapes to intricate, fantastical interiors and otherworldly designs.
Responsibilities
- Utilize advanced traditional art skills and expertise with modern DCC applications to create high-quality 3D models.
- Develop game-ready art assets (modeling, texturing, UV mapping) with guidance from Lead Artists and Art Directors.
- Maintain alignment with the project's vision, understanding the art and story of Soulframe.
- Contribute innovative and original ideas to all art aspects of the game's production and development.
- Actively participate in the feedback loop, offering and receiving feedback from the art team.
- Coordinate with Production and the team on marketing assets.
- Multitask effectively and prioritize competing demands.
- Support and mentor less-experienced artists.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience in the video game industry.
- Portfolio demonstrating excellent modeling and a strong understanding of environment texturing workflows (e.g., PBR, tiling/trim textures).
- Strong understanding of modern DCC apps (e.g., modeling, Painter).
- Strong lighting skills and experience creating normal maps and applying shaders.
- Ability to model, texture, and optimize props/assets for next-gen game engines.
- Exemplary written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with Substance suite of products is beneficial.
- University degree or college diploma in visual arts (or equivalent experience).
- Strong ability to optimize models.
