Job Details

As a Principal Product Manager for Platform at G-P, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our platform strategy and driving the success of products that form the foundation for our service offerings. You will navigate both the technical and business aspects of product management, focusing on developing scalable, high-performing platform solutions that address real customer problems and promote broad market adoption.

You will be expected to communicate effectively with all functional areas within the company while serving as both internal and external evangelist for your product area.

What You Can Expect to Do

  • Lead the end-to-end lifecycle of our platform products, from strategic planning to tactical execution, with a focus on creating a robust, scalable, and innovative platform ecosystem.
  • Own and drive key horizontal platform capabilities, including Identity and Access Control, OpenAPI interfaces, and authorization frameworks, ensuring they meet security, scalability, and usability standards.
  • Define the product roadmap and strategy for these platform services in close partnership with engineering and security teams.
  • Collaborate with engineering to build solutions based on modern architectures, including Cloud-native, SaaS, Microservices, Serverless, and Event-Driven patterns.
  • Drive a developer-centric approach for platform services—understand the developer experience, define what good looks like, and eliminate friction from the workflows. Prior experience with Internal Developer Portals (IDPs), especially based on Backstage, and a strong understanding of how to scale internal developer enablement.
  • Leverage AI-powered tools where applicable to improve workflows, analyze data, and enhance decision-making across the product lifecycle.
  • Work with cross-functional stakeholders (engineering, business, security, GTM) to align priorities, gather requirements, and ensure adoption of platform services.
  • Ensure documentation, usability, and internal discoverability of your products through collaboration with dev experience and documentation teams.
  • Drive KPIs that reflect real-world platform usage, satisfaction, and adoption across internal and external stakeholders.

What We Are Looking For

  • Experience: 15+ years of deep Product Management experience, including owning and driving large-scale technology platforms and developer-facing products across multiple lifecycle stages.
  • Technical Depth: Deep familiarity with Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), SaaS business models, Microservices, Serverless computing, Event-Driven Architectures, and API-first design principles. Ability to translate technical possibilities into product outcomes. Experience managing Identity and Access Control (AuthN/AuthZ), OpenAPI, or platform security workflows is highly desirable.
  • AI Awareness and Productivity Mindset: Familiarity with how AI can be applied to product management workflows and platform use cases. Demonstrated ability to use AI tools to boost efficiency, explore opportunities, and contribute to AI-driven initiatives when needed.
  • Developer Experience: Ability to build platform services with empathy for developers—understanding onboarding, authentication, documentation, and lifecycle needs.
  • Internal Stakeholder Collaboration: Demonstrated ability to work closely with internal customers, especially PMs of business applications. Skilled in building strong relationships, understanding their needs, and effectively communicating to ensure alignment.
  • Prioritization and Decision-Making: Excellent skills in managing and prioritizing requirements, particularly in situations with conflicting needs. Ability to balance multiple priorities and make strategic, value-driven decisions.
  • Execution Rigor: High ownership mindset. Ability to balance vision with short-term wins. Comfortable rolling up sleeves, driving specs, writing docs, and getting into details.
  • Effective Communication: Outstanding communication skills, capable of engaging with diverse cross-functional teams and providing clear updates and feedback loops.
  • Documentation and Requirements: Expertise in creating detailed and clear product requirement documents (PRDs) and specifications, ensuring comprehensive and understandable documentation.
  • Strategic and Analytical Thinking: Strong problem-solving abilities and strategic thinking. Proficient in analyzing market trends and user feedback to inform product strategy.
  • Data-Driven Approach: Proficiency in defining and tracking KPIs and metrics to measure platform performance and drive continuous improvement.
  • Agile Methodologies: Experience with Agile and Scrum methodologies, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and adaptability.
  • Educational Background: Solid technical foundation, preferably with a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degrees (M.S. or MBA) are a plus.
