Overview: The Hamilton Spectator seeks an experienced full-time Reporter skilled in storytelling for digital and print platforms, producing high-quality, trustworthy journalism for local readers.
Responsibilities:
- Produce a wide range of local news stories for web and print, filing on tight deadlines.
- Coordinate with the local news editor to develop stories in traditional and non-traditional formats.
- Create engaging multimedia content for website and social media, including video and audio.
- Use reporting, research and data analysis to produce accurate journalism.
- Travel throughout the community, including evenings and weekends, to cover events.
Qualifications:
- Diploma or degree in Journalism or a related field.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; proficiency with Canadian Press Style.
- Competent with social media, online posting and web filing on tight deadlines.
- Experience with data analysis, mapping, photography, video or broadcasting is an asset.
- Access to a reliable vehicle and valid drivers license.
Salary: $56,407.88–$75,578.24 (CAD).
