Reverse Mortgage DE Underwriter - Remote

Job Responsibilities:

• Underwriting files and establishing conditions to meet FHA and LBF guidelines.
• Making timely, accurate decisions on all FHA transactions.
• Evaluating risk and ensuring quality of each loan decision.
• Communicating requirements and decisions clearly.
• Reviewing all areas of the mortgage loan file for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with internal and regulatory guidelines (Application, Title, Appraisal, Assets, Credit, Condominium information, and income).
• Communicating clearly and concisely to appropriate parties (e.g., processing department).
• Partnering with processing to close loans efficiently and in a timely manner.
• Adhering to service level agreements and prioritizing workflow.
• Maintaining quality control standards while maintaining production standards.
• Assisting in identifying, recommending, and/or negotiating alternative loan documentation.

Qualifications:

• 3+ years of current active experience underwriting DE Reverse Mortgages.
• HECM for Purchase experience a plus.
• Proprietary Reverse Mortgage underwriting experience a plus.
• Valid CHUMS Number.
• Strong credit, risk analysis, and analytical skills.
• Ability to examine loan documentation for accuracy and completeness.
• Computer literacy with the ability to learn new software.
• Working knowledge of federal and state regulations (MDA, TILA, HUD, RESPA).
• Understanding of the loan flow process, file structure, and documentation requirements.
• Attention to detail, strong written, verbal, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work well with others, under pressure, and adapt to change.
• Familiarity with HUD guidelines, legal documentation, third-party risk assessment products, and Federal/State/Local compliance regulations.
