Job Details

AECOM is seeking a Sediment Remediation Engineer with 5 to 10 years of experience in environmental engineering and sediment remediation.

This role is ideal for an engineer with foundational experience in sediment remediation projects who is looking to further develop their technical and project management skills.

The ideal candidate will assist in site investigations, remedial design, and implementation for sediment remediation projects in aquatic and terrestrial environments.

Experience with CERCLA projects is desirable.

As a Sediment Remediation Engineer, you will work closely with senior engineers and project managers to support the successful completion of remediation projects. You will gain valuable experience and training while contributing to site investigations, design efforts, and remediation implementation for sediment contamination projects under CERCLA and other regulatory frameworks.

We are open to having the candidate work from any location within the US Mainland, in what is our preferred work model of a hybrid basis, but we are open to candidates working 100 percent remotely, depending on their current location within the US.

We are also flexible to part-time or full-time roles as well. Whatever situation fits your needs/wants best.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sediment Site Investigations: Assist in conducting sediment site investigations, including field data collection (sampling, coring), site assessments, and contamination evaluations. Help interpret data and contribute to the preparation of technical reports outlining findings.
  • Remedial Design Support: Support the development of sediment remediation plans under the guidance of senior engineers. Assist in designing remediation strategies such as dredging, capping, in-situ treatment, and stabilization for contaminated sediment sites.
  • Regulatory Compliance & Documentation: Assist with the preparation of reports, presentations, and regulatory documents required for CERCLA compliance. Ensure that remedial designs and activities comply with federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
  • Project Coordination & Fieldwork Support: Help coordinate fieldwork and other project activities to support sediment remediation efforts. Assist in scheduling, planning, and tracking project progress to ensure adherence to timelines and budgets.
  • Client & Stakeholder Interaction: Provide updates to clients and regulatory agencies regarding project status. Assist in addressing client questions and coordinating regulatory approvals and permits as needed.
  • Health & Safety Compliance: Support the development and implementation of Health and Safety Plans (HASPs) for field projects. Ensure all field activities comply with health and safety standards and best practices.
  • Post-Remediation Monitoring: Assist with post-remediation site monitoring, including collecting data and preparing monitoring reports to assess the effectiveness of remediation measures.
