Full-Time Senior Data Engineer

Primary Responsibilities:

• Maintain Postgres database, including the population of data from BAS sources
• Partner with stakeholders to understand data requirements and develop visualizations that support the organization's strategic goals
• Create and maintain complex dashboards and queries using Postgres and visualization tools
• Develop common metrics to use in unifying data streams from multiple sources
• Identify and deliver on reporting automation opportunities to reduce time to deliver on simulation results
• Assist in defining and implementing reporting architecture and output interfaces to support organizational goals
• Identify gaps and opportunities for improvement of existing solutions
• Functions may include database architecture, engineering, design, optimization, security, and administration; as well as data modeling, big data development, Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) development, storage engineering, data warehousing, data provisioning and other similar roles
• Duties may include management of design services, providing sizing and configuration assistance, ensuring strict data quality, and performing needs assessments
• Analyzes current business practices, processes and procedures as well as identifying future business opportunities for leveraging data storage and retrieval system capabilities
• Manages relationships with software and hardware vendors to understand the potential architectural impact of different vendor strategies and data acquisition
• May design schemas, write SQL or other data markup scripting and helps to support development of Analytics and Applications that build on top of data
• Selects, develops and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function
• Generally work is self-directed and not prescribed
• Works with less structured, more complex issues
• Serves as a resource to others

Required Qualifications:

• Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience
• 5+ years of experience in analytical and information security roles
• 3+ years of experience with data presentation tools including but not limited to Excel, Domo/PowerBI/Tableau
• 3+ years of experience constructing and maintaining scripts with Python
• 3+ years of experience formulating advanced algorithms
• 3+ years of experience rience managing Postgres databases
• 1+ years of experience working with cybersecurity event data and SIEMs
