Overview A thriving, mission-driven multimedia organization, NPR produces award-winning news, information, and music programming. We are innovators and leaders in diverse fields. Our Editorial Graphics team seeks a civic-minded senior graphics reporter.
Team Works on data visualizations, information design, creative story presentations. Works across a broad range of beats and subject areas.
Responsibilities Helps audience understand issues through visual storytelling, works closely with story producers, assesses project feasibility and meets deadlines, maintains design standards, coaches team members.
Qualifications Strong news judgment, communication skills, team player, initiative, curiosity, passion for Internet-native storytelling.
Minimum Qualifications At least five years experience designing/developing for news, solid news judgment, fluency in JavaScript, HTML, CSS, proficiency with code-based data visualizations (like D3), experience with Adobe Creative Suite, ability to create presentations.
Preferred Qualifications Broad visual storytelling skills, experience with story ideas, reporting, GIS/mapping software, data analysis techniques, user-centered design. Experience with Git, Agile or similar project management process.
Education Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
Work Location Remote permitted, based out of Washington, DC office.
Job Type Full-time, exempt.
Compensation $122,500–$145,000 USD plus benefits.
