AECOM seeks a Senior Sediment Remediation Engineer with 15+ years' experience in civil, geotechnical, or environmental engineering, focused on sediment remediation.
Ideal candidate will possess extensive experience designing, assessing, and implementing remedial solutions for complex sediment contamination projects in various environments (terrestrial, river, lake, marine). CERCLA experience is essential.
Responsibilities include:
- Sediment Site Assessments & Investigation: Lead comprehensive site investigations (characterization, sampling, contamination assessments). Interpret data from soil, water, sediment samples to identify contaminants and risks. Conduct ecological risk assessments to inform remediation decisions.
- Remedial Design & Implementation: Develop and oversee design of innovative remedial strategies for sediment contamination (dredging, capping, in-situ treatment, bioremediation, containment). Ensure design compliance with CERCLA and regulations.
- Regulatory Compliance & Reporting: Prepare and review reports, regulatory submissions, and technical documentation under CERCLA and other regulations. Serve as the primary technical contact for regulatory agencies, ensuring compliance.
- Project Leadership & Management: Manage multiple sediment remediation projects from start to finish. Lead project teams, ensure successful execution. Monitor budgets, schedules, resource allocation. Manage risk assessments, health & safety plans, and documentation.
- Business Development & Client Growth: Build strong client relationships, regulatory agencies, industry stakeholders. Lead proposal development, cost estimates, and multidisciplinary teams for competitive bids. Assist senior leadership in developing market expansion strategies.
- Client & Stakeholder Communication: Provide strategic guidance, technical expertise, regular updates. Communicate complex technical information to diverse audiences.
- Sediment Remediation Technology Innovation: Stay current with emerging remediation technologies and techniques. Provide thought leadership and innovation.
- Mentorship & Team Development: Mentor junior engineers and scientists, provide guidance. Foster collaboration and knowledge sharing.
- Post-Remediation Monitoring & Reporting: Oversee post-remediation monitoring to evaluate remedial effectiveness.
Minimum Qualifications:
- BA/BS or higher in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or related field, and 8+ years of experience.
- Professional Engineer (PE) or Certified Environmental Professional (CEP) or related advanced certifications.
- US Citizenship preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Masters Degree in related field.
- 15+ years' experience, specializing in sediment remediation projects in various environments.
- Proven track record of leading large-scale, complex projects (particularly under CERCLA).
- Experience managing and designing projects with heavy metals, PCBs, dioxins, PAHs.
- Expertise in sediment investigation techniques.
- Deep understanding of remediation technologies.
- Experience with RI/FS, RAPs, long-term monitoring programs.
- Strong knowledge of environmental regulations (CERCLA, RCRA, Clean Water Act).
- Experience with ecological risk assessments.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience in managing client relationships and resolving concerns.
