THE ROLEThis role is part of the Data Engineering Team, focused on maintaining and expanding our data platform that ingests and processes large amounts of geospatial data, generating valuable data insights for our customers.
This role reports into an Engineering Manager and works in a cross-functional development team that works closely with our analyst and application teams. You will support the team in developing our data ingestion, transform, machine learning and GenAI capabilities.
KEY ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES

- Driving excellence in code design, quality, understandability, testability, performance and security.
- Ensuring data is ingested and ready for use in our products in a timely fashion, maintaining and improving data quality.

EDUCATION BACKGROUND & TECHNICAL EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL
- Strong data engineering background, Python, SQL.
- Proven experience in writing well-tested, clean code and a good understanding of building well-factored code with healthy abstractions.
- Agile, automated, continuous integration + continuous deployment environment, git experience.
- Experience working with cloud-based services, using infra as code.
- Strong communication and problem-solving.
NICE TO HAVE
- Experience or passion for working with geospatial data.
- Knowledge of AWS Services.
- Machine Learning and Gen AI experience.
- SQL Performance & Optimisation.
- Databricks/Spark Experience.
