OverviewCome join our UX/UI team to craft and validate designs for our web-mapping application ArcGIS Map Viewer and Analysis tools in ArcGIS Online. These tools empower users to create interactive maps, perform spatial analysis, and extract insights from location data. Map Viewer serves as the initial Esri software touchpoint for many users. This role involves collaboration with other designers and development to connect people, locations, and data using interactive maps.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with developers, product managers, and team members to design complete mapping experiences using iterative design approaches.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to determine requirements and specifications for new and existing features.
- Develop user personas, user journeys, information architecture diagrams, wireframes, visual designs, and prototypes.
- Identify enhancements to product designs via user research (e.g., usability testing, surveys, interviews) with prototypes and launched products.
- Recommend and implement process improvements with leadership and stakeholders.
- Develop and present holistic design solutions addressing business, brand, and user needs, using wireframes and prototypes.
- Lead design efforts, ensuring others comprehend and utilize user-centered design practices. Stay informed on product design trends and technologies.
- Conduct peer reviews, collect usability feedback, and assess the quality of design implementations.
- Clearly communicate conceptual ideas, design rationale, and user-centered design processes to developers, engineers, product managers, and others.
Requirements
- 5+ years of product design experience for enterprise SaaS, web applications, or related fields.
- Proficient in Figma, Figma UI Kits, pattern libraries, and relevant frameworks.
- Knowledge or experience in localization or internationalization.
- Expertise in accessibility (WCAG 2.0/Section 508) and demonstrated ability to collaborate with developers to resolve accessibility challenges.
- Strong initiative, ownership, and impact in exceeding responsibilities.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Collaborative, data-driven approach with empathy and a focus on shared goals.
- Portfolio showcasing design skills, thinking process, interaction design, client understanding, and delivered product features.
- Bachelor's degree in Human Factors, HCI, Graphic Design, or related field.
Recommended Qualifications
- Master's degree in Human Factors, HCI, Graphic Design, or related field
- Experience in various user research methodologies (moderated sessions, A/B testing, surveys)
- Ability to lead design critiques, communicate rationale effectively, and mentor junior designers.
- Strong understanding of geospatial applications or map-based UI design (experience with ArcGIS or similar GIS platforms is a plus).
