Purpose of the JobThe Senior Technical Writer is a key player in our Knowledge Management team, responsible for creating, editing, and publishing knowledge base articles, API documentation, and other support content. This role requires a detail-oriented professional capable of managing content in a fast-paced product development environment, while also ensuring that our support content remains an accurate, up-to-date, and reliable resource for both our customers and internal teams.
Responsibilities & Accountabilities
- Act as an exemplary role model for other technical writers and members of the UX Content Design team.
- Create API documentation that meets the needs of engineers while also enabling and empowering non-engineering users.
- Run-test API commands and perform independent troubleshooting.
- Edit API call descriptions, parameter details, and examples to provide a clean and consistent user experience.
- Write clear, concise, and accurate knowledge base articles that simplify complex technical information.
- Review and edit draft articles submitted by team members, ensuring content meets quality standards and adheres to style guides.
- Publish final versions of articles to the knowledge base using web-based content management systems.
- Regularly audit and update existing articles to maintain accuracy and relevancy.
- Collaborate with customer support and technical teams to identify new content needs and update opportunities.
- Analyze content performance metrics to identify trends and develop strategies for content improvement and optimization.
- Manage content workflows and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines and organization goals.
Performance Measurement Consistency, clarity, and accuracy of API and knowledge base content. User engagement with API and knowledge base content, such as page views, time on page, and feedback scores. Timeliness of content updates in response to product changes or customer feedback.
Educational and Experience Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, English, Communications, or a related field. 6+ years of experience in technical writing, preferably with a focus on knowledge base content or software documentation.
Competencies and Behaviors Strong writing and editing skills, with a keen eye for detail. Proficiency in content management systems. A deep understanding of best practices for writing API documentation and knowledge base management. Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. Familiarity with technical concepts and ability to communicate them to a non-technical audience. Excellent organizational and time-management skills. Agile/Scrum experience is a plus.
