To effectively manage our full-scope accounting and associated administrative functions, we are looking for an organized and efficient CPA with required experience in the non-profit sector. This position is a full-time role reporting to the Finance Director.
Job Responsibilities:
- Run all accounting and financial clerical activities
- Prepare bank deposits and general ledger postings
- Assist with all invoicing tasks and managing accounts receivable, including recognition of conditions and restrictions of contributions as needed
- Ensure all bills, expenses and accounts payable are appropriately recorded and managed
- Timely entry of financial transactions (expenses, accruals, payroll) in Quickbooks
- Manage daily incoming crypto donations through wallets and Shopify platform.
- Maintain and record Fixed Asset records, including depreciation calculations
- Establish and maintain all written and practical financial policies and procedures
- Ensure accuracy of financial data, complete month-end and year-end closing process, including monthly bank and account reconciliations
- Manage admin of expense and credit card software. Run monthly reports and prepare reconciliations
- Ensure donations/contributions and Seatrees Inventory accounting is reconciled between all systems
- Develop and manage custom inventory and donation reports to monitor activities
- Manage merchandise administration and shipments through our online platform.
- Prepare and send donation receipts in collaboration with our partnerships team
- Prepare documents, supports, reports and other policy papers for auditors in compliance with GAAP standards and coordinate and facilitate auditing process with auditors
- Provide recommendations and drive internal organizational plans to reduce costs and implement/ maintain internal controls, with direction and approval of management
- Support the Team with special projects
Core Qualifications:
- Active CPA License, with at least 5 years of professional accounting experience.
- Minimum of three years of professional nonprofit accounting experience (US-GAAP).
- Significant understanding of accounting principles including accrual accounting, recognition and reporting of funding restrictions for programmatic and time-bound donations, inventory and crypto currency.
- Experience with non-profit organizational and program budgeting, forecasting and reporting, including grant reporting for foundations, government and international grants.
- Prior experience managing annual audit processes and serving as liaison with audit firm preferred.
- Experience using Quickbooks and Salesforce in a non-profit environment preferred
- Preferred experience working for a similar size organization.
- Authorized to work in the United States.
Additional Qualifications:
- Ability to work regular office hours, with scheduled in-office collaboration in the Manhattan Beach office.
- Ability to work effectively from a home office and in a remote team setting when not in office.
- Skilled in Google Office Suite, Salesforce, Slack, as well as SaaS tools, Expensify, Microsoft Office 365, Payment processing software, donor management tools
- Ability to work independently and implement solutions.
- Good judgment including reliable understanding of when and how to raise red flags to management for consideration and how to seek help when needed.
- Ability to set priorities, manage a multitude of details simultaneously in a fast-paced environment, and meet required deadlines and commitments
