About the team: The Product Creative team designs all the branded visuals and global styles on Reddit, including icons, illustrations, animations, and aspects of the user interface.
Role summary: We're looking for a Staff Product Designer to join the Product Creative team. This hybrid visual/product designer position will be highly focused on brand and visuals within the UX. You'll drive constant improvements to the look and feel across Reddit's consumer apps and websites. You will create systems and patterns for other internal teams and designers to follow. Our team is cross-functional and collaborates with other designers, Content Designers, Software Engineers, UX Researchers, and Brand/Marketing designers to create a top-tier visual brand for Reddit's user interfaces.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate on design system, frameworks, and patterns that define the Reddit brand.
- Improve UX globally by ensuring brand consistency across the platform.
- Envision the future visual evolution of Reddit and roadmap planning.
- Develop visual sub-brands for special experiences while staying true to the core Reddit brand.
- Drive consensus across teams via effective communication and presentation.
- Lead design efforts from concepting to final execution, focusing on strategy and execution.
- Provide constructive feedback during design reviews to enhance work quality and vision.
Required Qualifications:
- 7+ years of product and visual design experience
- 2+ years of recent experience as a UI/Visual or Product Designer at a consumer tech company
- A strong portfolio demonstrating pixel-perfect UI design, motion design, product design, systematic thinking, and brand work (illustration, 3D, animation).
- Experience shepherding a principles-driven design process across multiple teams and stakeholders.
- Excellent writing, presentation, and storytelling skills to clearly explain design decisions.
- Experience creating and delivering specs to engineers and understanding design collaboration with technical teams.
- Understanding of post-production workflows.
- Expertise in design software (Figma, Adobe Creative Suite), and optionally 3D tools like Blender, Cinema 4D.
- A passion for design systems, Reddit's mission, and pushing brand/product integration boundaries.
Bonus points
- Experience in building and enforcing design systems.
- Experience working on a social or consumer platform with a 9-digit userbase and global reach.
- Skill in creating 2D/3D visual assets, illustrations, animations, and motion graphics to bring brands to life.
Salary Range: $194,600 - $272,400 USD
