Role The scope of Strategic Sourcing Manager is to build strong relationships with internal business units and drive enterprise-wide sourcing, category management, contract negotiation, and delivery of the Marketing category, including Event Management, Event Venue, Advertising, Creating, Market Research, Promotional Items, Lead Generation, and Print. Provide subject matter expertise and strategic guidance within categories; manage and execute appropriate sourcing process and procedures. This role provides leadership and direction in support of the company’s Marketing functions for Strategic Sourcing.
Responsibilities Conducts supplier analysis, evaluates potential suppliers, and supports the overall supplier qualification process, develops and creates sourcing plans and category strategies, requests for proposals, and other sourcing documents, evaluates and recommends purchasing and sourcing decisions to management. Reviews spend analysis, assesses, and proactively seeks opportunities for cost savings and avoidance. Tracks and reports key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness. Crafts negotiation strategies and closes deals with optimal results. Partners with stakeholders to ensure clear requirements documentation. Performs cost and scenario analysis, and benchmarking. Assesses, manages, and mitigates risks. Seeks and partners with reliable vendors and suppliers. Determines quantity and timing of deliveries. Monitors and forecasts upcoming levels of demand. Actively seeks out industry knowledge through research, trade shows, conferences, and online training, establishing yourself as a trusted advisor.
Skills Required Minimum of four years of experience in strategic sourcing with at least 2 years sourcing the marketing category. In-depth knowledge and familiarity with the sourcing landscape managing Marketing spend in Events. Experience with Advertising, Creative, Event Venue, Market Research, Promotional Items, Marketing, Lead Generation, and Print is a plus. First-class professional and interpersonal communication skills for collaboration with diverse internal and external resources and groups. Excellent organization and time management skills to oversee simultaneously occurring projects, tasks, and deadlines. Expert knowledge of office productivity, word-processing, and various other computer-based or online website proposal software. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Working knowledge of RFP process and standard business practices and procedures. Both strategic and tactical sourcing experience. Ability to articulate category strategies. Solid judgment and ability to make good decisions. Comfortable negotiating and networking. Ability to gather and analyze data and to work with figures. Ability to work independently. Can-do mentality.
