The West Region Dams and Reservoirs team of AECOM is actively seeking a motivated, creative, highly talented Structural Engineer Discipline Lead with risk analysis experience in the dams and hydraulics structures industry to telecommute for the Denver, CO office. The dams and reservoirs team within the Water Business Line is responsible for providing engineering and design services in support of multidisciplinary projects, with a focus on water storage and hydropower dam projects, while also supporting tailing dams projects with the Mining Department.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate structural engineering technical aspects of pursuits and projects with other disciplines and in support of other project/ design managers.
- Ensure that QA/QC procedures are being implemented and ensure the technical quality of deliverables.
- Lead responses to client’s comments on structural design elements of the deliverables.
- Ensure structural designs are completed in accordance with contractual obligations, applicable standards, and design documents, and confirm review and approval have been completed prior to release to client.
- Incorporate innovation in design and delivery, and support groups of engineers, designers and/or specialists with development of structural design documents and contract deliverables.
- Manage and provide technical support for structural analyses such as 2D and 3D FEA of concrete gravity dams, curved gravity dams, arch dams, and other hydraulic structures such as intake towers, spillways and spillway gates.
- Prepare structural reports, drawings, and specifications for water storage and hydropower dams.
- Prepare and present technical presentations to project team, clients, and technical review boards.
- Perform dam safety inspections.
- Participate in potential failure mode analyses and risk analyses for water storage and hydropower dams, including identifying and developing potential failure modes, serving as recorder, subject matter expert, and/or facilitator in risk analysis workshops, estimating risk, and report documentation.
- Train, mentor, and develop staff, and support career growth opportunities for staff.
- Interface with project teams, clients, and subcontractors through progression of the design deliverables.
- Prepare structural engineering proposals, and assist in establishing structural scope, work plan, and work schedules.
- Support marketing coordination and proposal preparation. Participate in proposal interviews.
- Comply with company’s safety awareness program and policies.
- Manage budgets, provide client updates, and perform general project management tasks.
- Anticipate potential budget and schedule impacts and initiate plans for alternative actions.
Minimum Requirements
- BA/BS + 10 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and or education.
