Job Details
Critical position in global training department for delivering successful UK and worldwide service.
Collaborate with global stakeholders and customers.
Support Global Documentation Strategy and integrate into technical documentation deliverables.
Support Training Research, Analysis & Design and Technical Documentation pillar.
Deliver all technical documentation for internal and commercial customers.
Technical Documentation Writer Duties:
- Independently execute documentation assignments (operating instructions, technical manuals) for target groups.
- Efficient and effective project management.
- Independently familiarize with changing technologies.
- Independently gather documentation for technical documentation (circuit diagrams, internal documentation, supplier documentation, parts lists, software release notes, etc.).
- Participate and lead in project meetings.
- Communicate with production/development, prepare materials.
- Translation-oriented development of technical documentation (e.g. operating instructions, technical manuals), also in common foreign language, taking into account standards, rules and regulations (e.g. EU Machinery Directive, SD documentation structure, SD style guide).
- Develop and maintain documentation structures, use efficient segmentation.
- Develop diagrams / photos / graphics for complex technical details.
- Develop diagnostic strategies and map them in troubleshooting guides.
- Coordinate with translation coordinator for prompt, accurate translations.
- System storage of completed documents.
- Checking technical documentation of other authors.
- Monitor and update existing documentation (component discontinuation, functional changes).
- Commission and monitor translations, maintenance of documentation catalogues (database), change histories, etc.
- Additional tasks: Cooperation with Products & Technologies in UI design and translation, introduction of new system functions. Check translations, prepare translation templates. Cooperation/control of external documentation service providers.
- Cooperation with equipment component suppliers. Clarification of questions. Integration of external documentation into system documentation.
- Participation in tenders.
- Prepare effort and cost estimates for documentation projects.
- Obtain and incorporate feedback from service and training departments on documentation quality.
Technical Knowledge and Skills:
- Technical documentation qualifications or willing to obtain within next 12 months.
- Troubleshooting skills.
- Effective presentation and responding to questions from various groups.
- Proficient in MS Office applications.
- Ability to handle stressful situations and adapt to changing priorities.
