Full-Time VP/Director, Real Estate Underwriting

Job Summary: The VP/Director, Underwriting, Real Estate Finance, underwrites and executes all new loan opportunities in a high-volume lending environment. This role screens, underwrites, and structures new loan opportunities, creates credit memos, manages loan closing, and works with asset management on portfolio post-closing.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Assist in all aspects of origination, leading to closing new transactions
2. Evaluate financing requests to assess credit quality and appropriate loan structures
3. Conduct diligence and underwriting, ensuring loan/facility meets Bank's credit policy
4. Ensure accurate capture of business terms/structure in loan documentation (legal docs, loan agreements, participation agreements)
5. Identify transaction merits, risks, and mitigation strategies
6. Ensure timely updates and maintenance of loan documentation/credit files
7. Facilitate loan closings, ensuring legal documentation, 3rd party/due diligence, and processing are completed
8. Gather information and diligence materials from borrowers, maintaining strong relationships
9. Maintain detailed financial models and sensitivity analyses
10. Perform market, industry, and sponsor due diligence
11. Collaborate with Portfolio Management on modifications, extensions, risk ratings, etc.
12. Supervise assigned employees (organizing, monitoring work progress)
13. Manage employee performance (development, coaching, counseling)

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree
• 7+ years experience in underwriting and managing credit risk in Commercial Real Estate/Lending
• Strong Excel, Argus, CoStar, and REIS knowledge
• Strong oral/written communication skills
• Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills

Minimum Salary: $150,000 (negotiable)
