As a Writer and Editor, you'll craft impactful content to inspire supporters, donors, and the public to act against animal abuse in the food industry. You'll write and edit various materials, from fundraising appeals to video scripts and blog articles, ensuring THL's voice resonates globally. This role reports to the Editorial Manager.
Ideal candidates write with precision and strategic purpose, creating everything from concise soundbites to compelling narratives. You demonstrate adaptability and effective communication with diverse global audiences while maintaining a consistent brand voice. You excel at distilling complex concepts into compelling stories that complement THL's bold visuals and support our mission. This role involves working with animal cruelty imagery.
This is a full-time, remote position. It may include domestic or international travel. Occasionally, work outside of 9am-5pm may be required due to global time zones.
Essential Functions:
- Create compelling content promoting animal welfare through storytelling.
- Develop and optimize various content types, maintaining consistent brand voice and editorial standards.
- Ensure content balances emotional impact with clear calls to action.
- Guide less experienced writers, providing editorial feedback, and leading content initiatives.
- Collaborate with freelancers and external content providers to maintain quality and editorial standards.
- Manage content budgets, track expenses, and ensure projects stay within budget.
- Develop and deliver editorial training materials.
- Utilize content workflow systems and maintain clear documentation.
- Build relationships with designers, subject matter experts, and content reviewers.
- Make sound editorial decisions while adhering to brand guidelines and organizational voice.
- Implement editorial policies, evaluate content effectiveness, and suggest improvements to guidelines.
- Respond to urgent content needs, manage time-sensitive requests, and identify workflow improvements.
Required Skills:
- 3+ years of writing and editing experience.
